I keep saying I’m back, only to disappear again for various reasons. This time the reasons include a food-borne illness that lasted 2 full weeks and was severe enough to warrant a trip to the ER, where I was saved from death by dehydration with IV-bags full of saline solution and medications for several hours. (Okay, that might be slightly hyperbolic, but the illness and resulting dehydration were indeed severe.) But as Ma would say, “All’s well that ends well;” I’m getting close to normal again, so maybe I’ll actually make it back to regular posting this time.

October has always been my favorite month. Beautiful days beginning with crisp morning air and warming to nice afternoons, trees and grasses painting the landscape with their changing colors, garden-fresh produce still available, made all the sweeter by the knowledge that it will soon be gone. But, for the past few years, that hasn’t been the case, and I’ve been threatening to change my favorite month. October is just plain old hot – we had a record-breaking 96 today  & possible triple-digit tomorrow – and if there’s any color changing it’s going straight to dead brown. The produce has mostly been burned out before now. So it’s official: my favorite month is now November.
